Overview
Corrupt Australia seeks to add to the accepted streams of social and political thought which dominate public debate. Socialism and Marxism on the one hand or Liberalism and Capitalism on the other are not the answer. Why? Because as ideologies they spring from a common erroneous belief: that the linear advancement of a 'progressive' and 'disinterested' economic system will perfect human life if applied universally .This blog rejects the thinking which frames all social concerns as merely economic or material conerns, which ignores the importance of intangible aspects of social culture such as values, leadership and psychology, and which replaces notions like 'nobility' or 'reality' with notions like 'efficiency', 'productivity' and bare 'quantity'.
Highlighted are the detrimental consequences that our reliance on the prevailing 'one size fits all' liberal/capitalist/socialist hybrid economic-value system is having on an Australian way of life in the form of adherence to a lowest common denominator globalised culture, declining social cohesion, declining community/grass roots power, centralisation and state intervention, regulation of 'free' speech, terrorism, and the blatant quantity over quality mentality which decides most issues of wide reaching social implication simply in terms of the outcome that will move the tokens of the economy around the furthest and for the longest duration.
Also rejected are the old out-dated and absolute divisions between different sorts of ideology which have resulted in the endless dogmatic and emotional mud-slinging matches that can be seen between opposing ideological 'camps'.
INDIVIDUALISM vs COLLECTIVISM
Every motivation stems from self orientated desires. However contrary to the premises of the modern cult of individualism which champions societies comprised of existentially disconnected individuals our self orientated desires or preferences as human beings are more likely to be meaningfully fulfilled, in general, as part of a greater human whole, or community, who's participants possess similar values.
ETHNICITY/RACE
Any categorization of a certain ethnic group or race as 'superior' or 'inferior' than another can only be completely arbitrary and subjective, revealing more about the fears and desires of the categorizer than about any inherently 'good' or 'bad' nature of the ethnic group itself.
However each ethnic group is a rich container of different values, practices and common goods, and we believe that the current politically correct attitude towards the mass integration of all ethnicities into a new non-discernible consumer culture (the modern multicultural state) is ultimately destructive to culture and indeed to human diversity.
RATIONALITY & INTELLIGENCE
Emotion rather than logic or rationality rules our society. However, rationality itself is merely a tool to be used according to one's moral tendencies or one's values. Rationality is simply the ability to perceive and to manipulate bare structure. Rationality is the means to do things while our values reflect our ends or purposes. Thus a focus on intelligence or rationality divorced from a community focas on other values is dangerous and produces a purely sly, manipulative and parasitic social environment. Read more.
ELITISM vs EGALITARIANISM
Throughout history every group of people has held certain human traits in higher regard than others and that these traits differ according to the sorts of people each group aims to nurture and promote. This may in fact be the essence of 'culture'. Thus the modern notion that we are all the same "despite our differences" is insulting and harmful to the cultural processes which have shaped us as people. It is virually meaningless anyway, being today used simply a symbolic notion in accordance with political correctness (for don't we even now exclude those people from our society who we deem 'criminals', for example?)
SOCIALISM vs CAPITALISM
All wealth in a community need not be shared equally as a total welfare culture would create rampant laziness. However surely wealth should accrue to the people who benefit the community as a whole and not simply to those people who contribute only to the economy, which, unlike today, should be viewed as merely one part of a community.
THE ENVIRONMENT
It is foolish for a society to undermine its own existence, and to function unsustainably is to do precisely this. The environment is not simply that which spawned us; we are a part of, now and into the future. With the potential to manipulate this tangle of life and death, we are accountable for doing so in a sensible manner, as determined not only by the base sustenance of our communities, but with a respect for the diversity and beauty on this earth, and with the knowledge that our surroundings influence our mental wellbeing. Rejected are the ideologies of both 'soft environmentalism' and the new wave of 'green consumerism', as both revolve around emotional gratification rather than conservation.
==--==
Corrupt Australia is here to encourage and give voice to the following ideas in an Australian context (follow the bolded links to read more into each one):
- Active Nihilism (as opposed to moral absolutism on the one harnd or fatalism on the other)
- Holism (as opposed to liberalism, communism, and materialism: basically an appreciation of balance rather than the obsessive elevation of merely one component of society, be this the individual, the collective, the environment, or the economy, above all the rest)
- Inequality among individuals (A realistic recognition of diversity and difference)
- GENUINE multi-culturalism (as opposed to the mono-culturalism that globalisation really represents when followed through to its logical conclusion)
- Nationalism (allowing people to see themselves within the context of the wider living entity they are a part of - the nation - and to preserve it. This is true multi-culturalism)
- Localisation (While recognising that one is a part of and shares bonds with a wider entity, the nation, localisation encourages one to see themselves and govern, in more depth than is the current norm, within the content of the narrower entity they are more immanently a part of - their local community. Centralised and thus far removed bureaucracies cannot do this as effectively and simply end up standardising everything into one homogeneous and lowest common denominator blur)
hink of it all - of the life that is! Study your friends and foes!
Study the past! And answer this: "Are these times better than those?" The life-long quarrel, the paltry spite, the sting of your poisoned pride! No matter who fell it were better to fight as they did when the world was wide.
